Guidelines for Internet
use at the Hospital
Internet access provided by the Hospital is intended for
business use only. Internet access, including E-Mail, should be used in
accordance with the Hospital communications policies and the Guidelines for
Business Use of Communication Media as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
Since the Hospital Internet access is furnished for business
use only, it should not be used by employees for personal communication or for
access or transmission of non-business information, including images of a sexual
nature, ethnic slurs, racial comments, off color jokes, or anything else that
may be construed as showing disrespect for others. Therefore, the Hospital
prohibits the use of the Internet in ways that are disruptive, offensive,
harmful to morale, or that could constitute unlawful acts.
The Hospital reserves the right to restrict Internet access
based on file size, volume of mail, file attachments, or any other area that may
affect the performance and security of the Hospital network and/or Internet
firewall.
No Hospital employee can publish anything on the Internet
representing the Hospital without approval from Corporate Planning and
Communications. All Internet communications representing the Hospital must
adhere to the graphic standards, as defined by Corporate Planning and
Communications.
To ensure compliance, Internet usage may be monitored at any
time and may be disclosed by the Hospital without the permission of the
employee. This monitoring can include auditing all of the sites accessed by an
employee.
Violations of these guidelines may result in discipline up to
and including discharge.
